Pre Work: District provided 1:1 as we have seen through case studies and learned from various class discussions does not work well. The concept of it is great, but the actual integration has failed. Reasons for this vary from inadequate teacher training to insufficient wifi to support usage, as well as students not taking proper care of property that isn’t theirs or see it as “forced” technology usage. BYOD has proven to work better because it lets the students and teachers use technology as it benefits their classroom needs. I do believe that eventually 1:1 could work to its full potential, there just needs be an appropriate adaption time built in.
Flipped classroom teaching, much like 1:1 is good in theory. It is presented as giving the teacher more time in the classroom for application of knowledge, while the students take on the responsibility of doing all prework before hand. What it doesn’t account for are outside factors that could affect the students ability to do so, or if the students don’t do the necessary steps before hand or don’t have access to it, the lesson for the day is rendered useless. Blended learning takes this concept and uses the at home portion of instruction as a basis for instruction and allows the teacher to build upon that in the class

Check for Understanding:
Recommend a training program for teachers using technology.
After researching the various types of training programs, I believe this article sums up the type of training program that is best for teachers: http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/tech165.shtml
Just as with learning how to integrate technology into the classroom for our students, there shouldn’t be a one size fits all approach to tech training for the teachers. Each district needs to asses what they feel is most important for their teachers to comprehend and how that fits into the culture of the campuses, and go from there. I do think that the multifaceted approach works best, blending required and incentivized training would be my recommendation.
