Digital literacy means knowing how to use and navigate digital sources in a responsible and reliable way. So many students know how to navigate the internet with their eyes closed to find the information they are interested in, but when it comes it using it for truly knowledgeable information they are lost. Students need to be able to know how to navigate the internet and other digital resources to find accurate information. Just as we used to learn how to use a library catalog to find information we needed, people need to be educated on how to do the same with digital resources. Part of digital literacy is also, having an intelligent and appropriate digital presence. So many people these days don;t realize that their digital footprint is far more permanent than anything before.
