Pre Work:
Listen to the interviews with Dr. Peggy Semingson, Dr. Pete Smith, and Dr. Genevieve Bell. Identify two common themes on emerging technology that runs through all three interviews? Explain your answer in two paragraphs.
The common theme I saw in all 3 interviews was that of digital interaction. This was explained slightly different in each interview and the areas of focus were highlighted according to interest. Within this them I think it can be broken down even further into 2 main focuses, broad interaction and micro interaction.
Within the scope of broad interaction would be the traditional way we currently think of using technology in a broader social sense such a Facebook and twitter. These interviews asked us to explore how we could translate that into an educational sense. With the immersion of blogging, Google translator, and online course interaction we are able to take our one on one or very small group interaction and expand our circle to a learning community around the world. No longer are we confined to the traditional type of learning within our school walls or an online campus, our connections our unlimited and garner instant feedback. I would consider micro interaction, anything we are doing within our immediate network whether it be social or educational. The interviewee talked about how these interactions are changing the way we socialize in our everyday life, in the workplace and in school. No longer are we limited to, for example, sharing your lesson plan with your partner teacher. The whole school or district can be informed in an instant of your knowledge. Micro interaction an privatized blogs such as edmoto can quickly become broad as you expand your network and advance in technology skills.

Check for Understanding:
Taking into consideration the "Uses of Technology" Also Known As the "Role of Technology" that we discussed in Module One, Which of these uses will have the most emerging technology available in the next three years? In other words, which technology holds the most promise for the uses we discussed? Explain your answer. I expect at least two paragraphs that indicate you understand the role technology can play in the future and which emerging technology holds the most promise.
I believe the role of technology that will be the most evolved over the next 3 year is that of “leveling the playing field.” I am currently student teaching in an inclusion class, which means that there are all levels of students in the class from SPED to high level. The class has 2 teachers, with one of the teacher’s primary focus being to accommodate the needs of the SPED kids. There are several different forms of technology available for the kids to use for the same lesson depending on their required needs and styles of learning. This is such a great use of the integrating technology into the classroom that helps to make a positive impact on daily learning. With that being said, I believe the use of textbooks will be slowly phases out. There will always be a need for a textbook as a guide for the learning, but with all the benefits and attributes technology has to offer, the textbook as the center around which lessons are being made is going away. This is why classes like this, which keep us current on the applications of technology in the classroom are so important, so that we as teachers aren’t becoming less needed as well.
